Holidays in The Scottish Borders

Home > The Scottish Borders

The Scottish Borders Map Celebrations of music, local food and drink with beer, arts and seafood festivals throughout the year ensure a dull moment will never arise in the Scottish Borders. Experience the culture with sheep dog and horse trials, craft fairs and a concentration of fascinating historical sites including ancient monuments, castles, mansions, ruined abbeys and Iron Age hill forts. Outdoor activities, museums and galleries, stately homes, small shops and craft workshops, intricate towns and villages, hand made glassware and pottery, world famous knitwear - need we go on?

Walkers can choose from ambling, long treks like the Southern Upland Way and St Cuthbert's way, country paths and forest walks. Cyclists can explore the extensive network of quiet country roads, forest trails and routes along river valleys, with the 90 mile Tweed Cycleway and the 55 mile Four Abbeys Cycle Route for the more energetic among us. There is no shortage of riding centres and schools, or take your own horse on a holiday and discover beautiful trails through forests, along glorious countryside and over the sweeping hills. Enjoy some of the most breathtaking golf courses. Try your hand at game or coarse fishing, sea angling or brown trout fishing in the lochs, not to mention the River Tweed, famous for salmon fishing.

Scotland (AA Road Map Britain S.) From the experts at the AA this updated road map is all you need for motoring around Scotland. The maps combine clear design and more road detail with an easy to read scale to ensure that you never lose your way. There are also fifteen town plans on the reverse of each map plus an easy to read place-name index. The maps are folded to a handy slim line format and are contained in a durable encapsulated card cover, offering great value for this price.
