Cairngorms from Grantown First established in the 1760's this fine town supports a wide variety of activities. Woodland and riverside walks are abundant with excellent roads and paths for cycling and some very challenging terrain for mountain biking. It is an excellent base for golfers with 12 courses within 20 miles of the town. Whisky is a main stay in this area and heading north east will take you through the Speyside whisky trail with famous distilleries like The Glenlivet just 16 miles from here. The area is steeped in history with evidence of Pictish settlements found on the surrounding hills.

Cromdale Hills Castle Grant is just 2 miles north of the town, and although not open to the public, a walk from the town to the castle is highly recommended. Fishing is obviously a big thing for Grantown with salmon and sea trout in the Spey and Brown and Rainbow trout in many of the stocked lochans and the hard fighting wild brown trout found in the nearby Lochindorb, once home the Wolfe of Badenoch.
